Sharing photos part III - Google Earth & Panoramio

I planned a walk somewhere near Manchester and decided to have a look on Google Earth. I was really surprised when I discovered that in the area of my search I found pictures uploaded by different people. It was really useful because I could find out interesting landscapes and places to take a walk with my camera. Another solution giving you a chance to share your photos. Google provide this feature in association with Panoramio.

Sharing photos part II - Google Picasa

Everybody knows Google, but not everybody is aware that apart from a great search engine, they also created a fantastic solution for managing and publishing photo galleries on-line -
Google Picasa. The software has all the functions you may ever need when managing your private photos library - it automatically searches your hard drive for pictures anytime you copy something new to your disk. You can easily reprocess all the images with many functions available and with just a few clicks publish your favourite pictures on the Internet in a public or private gallery. Everything in one place, very intuitive (as most of the Google programs) and simple to use.

Did you know that Google also introduced a Docs & Spreadsheet aplication? No? Check this here - http://docs.google.com.

Sharing photos part I - Stock.xchng

There are two great places just made for sharing images in the Internet.

Stock.xchng - Stock.XCHNG was launched in February 2001, as an alternative for expensive stock photography. The idea was to create a site where creative people could exchange their photos for inspiration or work. In about two years the site evolved into this massive community you see now - there are about 500.000 registered users and more than 180.000 photos online!

I used this website many times when needed photos for my projects. It is very painful, especially for non-profit web creations when you lack for good quality pictures. SXC was always an answer for that and it is the only such good place with free photos on the Net. This is one of the greatest examples how sharing can benefit to all the participants. With my new camera I hope I will upload there some of my pics soon.
